Joel Caldwell: “Acadia National Park is a series of Islands off Maine’s rocky shore. This late in the year the fall colors are on full display and the thousands of daily park-goers have mostly headed home, leaving what can be crowded trails empty and beckoning. We got up early most mornings and lucked out with back to back bluebird days. Big fires at night were the natural close to each full fall day spent exploring. I’m grateful that folks a hundred years ago had the foresight to put this piece of earth aside for the enjoyment of future generations. Helluva trip!”
